jQuery Video Background - North by Northwest

This desktop site, summarizing the plot of the Alfred Hitchcock film North by Northwest and including links to buy or watch the film online, is intended to demonstrate successful use of a third-party jQuery plug-in enabling a lightweight, fast-loading video background.

The VIDE video background plug-in facilitates the inclusion of a high definition video background on a site without either significantly adding to file size or slowing initial load time. Successful implementation of the plug-in involved converting an H.264 video file ripped from a DVD to .ogv and .webm internet-specific video formats.

The video background will display on the Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers on desktop, but delivers a static image on Safari and is not responsive on mobile OS. View the video background.
